Album Info:Linwood yard is the Norfolk Southern's major yard in North Carolina with a large hump classification yard, extensive locomotive servicing facilities and a large car shop. The yard was built by the Southern in 1979 on its mainline between Washigton, Atlanta and New Orleans. It is just north of Spencer which was once a major facility and now the North Carolina Transportation museum. The photographs in this album were taken by me during a visit to the control tower, servicing site and car shop on June 4, 2007 during a Railway & Locomotive Historical Society convention. The yard is not accessible without trespassing.
