Dates:5/1/1955 - 5/1/1955
Album Info:I took these slides from about 1955 to about 1960 between the signal towers that mark the ends of the 1914-16 line relocation that eliminated the old Central Falls and Pawtucket Stations and several grade crossings, particularly the ones in downtown Pawtucket at Exchange Place, and resulted in a new Pawtucket-Central Falls Station built over the border of the two cities. The dates for the pictures are my best guesses about when I took them.

New Haven PA's with Yankee Clipper
Title:  New Haven PA's with Yankee Clipper
Description:  Train is westbound coming off the connector built by the Boston & Providence from its main line near Hebronville, MA to Boston Switch in Central Falls RI. The 4.4 mile line was built in order to join the Providence & Worcester (on the left) to use its route to the new Union Depot on the Providence Cove. The tower was erected in 1915 when the line through Pawtucket was rerouted and was used for only 20 years. Woodlawn tower -SS 154- was built in 1915 at the other end of the new route and assumed the duties of SS 156 when it closed in 1935. I regret that I no longer have accurate dates for the slides in this album so please disregard the dates given.

New Haven PAs at Boston Switch
Title:  New Haven PAs at Boston Switch
Description:  The westbound is joining the original Providence & Worcester route built in 1847 through Central Falls. The next year the Boston & Providence built a 4.4 mile extension from its main line to here (Boston Switch-the "west junction"). The B&P had built its main line to India Point in 1835 but when the P&W and New York, Providece & Boston built a Providence Union Station on the Cove, the B&P could only reach the new station by using the P&W route from Boston Switch.
